Core Issues
Job Creation Through Infrastructure Investment
Robust infrastructure investment supports long-term job creation in construction and related industries. Recent administrative decisions have halted progress on projects that were set to create countless work hours for us over the next several eyars:
- Paused or canceled billions in federal infrastructure funding, including clean energy projects, transportation upgrades, and EV charging station builds.
- Clawed back funds from DOE-supported hydrogen hubs, jeopardizing thousands of union construction jobs.
- Cancelled offshore wind projects, including major developments in New York and Massachusetts.
- Delayed or defunded housing retrofit programs, affecting energy-efficiency construction and community development projects.
These decisions have caused widespread project delays, layoffs, and missed opportunities for job growth in key union sectors.
Core Issues
This page will be updated regularly to reflect new developments. IUPAT will continue to advocate for policies that support our members and their families, and to challenge those that undermine the dignity of work in the union trades.
